From the Impossible Question
to the Two-Act Engine
Propulsion is the action of applying force to change an object's motion. Humanity has used four great propulsion families: wheels, propellers, turbojets and rockets. All share one limitation: they need to expel mass or push against a medium. ABÏON is the first that does neither.
In a rocket, mass expulsion creates thrust and that mass is lost forever. In ABÏON, mass is expelled, flies, then captured inside the vehicle. Thrust occurs at capture, not expulsion. Working mass is recycled cycle after cycle — constant mass.
Most inventors start from first principles and seek applications. Álvaro Bricio took the disruptive path: first imagined the machine, then asked which physics laws make it possible. Noether became a roadmap: by breaking translational symmetry in one region and restoring it in another, linear momentum can emerge without violating any law.
No other propulsion engine separates momentum generation (without reaction) from its extraction (with reaction). ABÏON is the first and, so far, the only one.

In the early hours of the morning, while drawing diagrams on a napkin, the insight came: the symmetry didn't need to stay the same. It could change during a finite transition. Linear momentum (pure) didn't exist inside the disc because there was no translational symmetry. Upon releasing the mass, symmetry appeared and momentum emerged. Noether wasn't violated — it simply didn't apply during the change. The first ABÏON schematic was drawn.
